Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Financial Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization.
- Reconcile Cash and Bank Accounts: Perform regular cash and bank account reconciliations for grants and maintain comprehensive bookkeeping records.
- Manage Bookkeeping and Reporting: Conduct proper bookkeeping, accountancy, and reporting for all programs and projects.
- Conduct Financial Reviews: Assist in conducting financial reviews during program implementation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Transaction Verification: Review organizational documents and transactions to ensure compliance, accuracy, relevance, and reasonableness.
- Prepare Financial Reports: Generate regular monthly financial status reports for the organization.
- Process Payments and Receipts: Make payments and receive funds in accordance with finance procedures.
- Maintain Filing System: Ensure that all accounts records are filed in an orderly manner.
- Manage Activity Funds: Receive requisitions from staff and ensure timely approval and disbursement of activity funds, in coordination with the Finance Officer and Program Manager.
- Document Financial Transactions: Enter account information, code payment vouchers, and maintain files for data processing and/or payment.
- Invoicing and Debtors Management: Prepare relevant invoices to clients for payments and maintain debtors’ accounts.
- Maintain Accounting Records: Keep all accounting records and assets register up to date.
- Ensure Financial Compliance: Follow internal controls to maintain financial security and adhere to CRAWN, government, and donor rules and regulations.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Finance Officer to ensure the smooth operation of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance) or equivalent.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA/ACC).
- Knowledge of Sage software is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Experience in non-profit program management, budgeting, and accounting.
