Our client Sheraton Hotel seek to hire a Gardener who will be tasked with the general maintenance of the gardens, lawns and plants at the residence. As well as maintain the beautification of the lawns and gardens in order to maintain lush and green surroundings.
Responsibilities
-Soil cultivation, digging and forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and planting.
-The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery.
-Report equipment malfunctions to engineering as and when noticed.
-To be aware of Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to comply with current -Health & Safety at Work legislation.
-To ensure all equipment, machinery are stored securely and clean after use.
-Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns.
-Maintain gardens by naturally fertilizing, trimming and making sure that plants are receiving adequate water.
-Prune trees and hedges in ways that help the plants’ health, are safe and look good.
-Maintain lawn and grass areas using machinery, natural fertilizers but no chemicals.
-To keep the gardens, and footpaths clear and free from litter at all times.
-Planting (purchasing, organizing etc.)
-Pruning and cutting hedges.
-Outside maintenance including pathways, pond, steps, walls etc.
-Tiding up and cleaning outside of the residence
-Keep the tool shed / store room clean and tidy.
-Good knowledge of plants, must be organized and able to follow schedule.
-Maintain and grow the garden to ensure it meets specific requirements and expectations.
-Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking.
-Plant and nurture new trees, flowers, and various plants.
-Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as plant vehicles, and small diggers.
-Service all garden equipment and machinery.
-Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds.
-Provide guidance to management on matters related to the garden.
-Advise management on the costs of plants and garden necessities with detailed written quotations and reports.
-Ensure a safe environment for staff and clients by adhering to safety and health regulations.
Qualifications
-A certificate in Gardening is an added advantage.
-At least 2 years’ proven experience in a similar role in a hotel setting
-Ability to handle a range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools.
-In-depth knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
-Friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
-Solid understanding of health and safety rules and legislation.
-Self-motivated.
